Baley Met - "Baley"

  Truly Met/Time To Bale

DOB 02/15/04

1 start

Baley was the TB that started it all!   In February 2008 he was at UCD Veterinary Teaching Hospital with Pneumonia that he had contracted by ingesting a piece of hay during a trailer ride from Southern California to Golden Gate Fields.  He was extremely sick and was hours away from being put to sleep. A few vet friends of mine called me and told me about him. They said he was really sick and wouldn't race agian but may recover to be a pleasure horse.  When I saw him he was the most pathetic guy I had seen, so skinny and sad looking.  He walked up to my daughter and sniffed her hair and looked at us with those big brown eyes and said I'll take him!  Eight weeks of intensive and expensive vet care yielded a wonderful surprise.  He made almost a full recovery! Once he was given the ok to work the kids were on him almost immediately.  He was ridden by kids and loved trail rides, so I decided to try him out as a mounted police horse.  To my surprise he LOVED it!  He is so brave and seems to relish the attention and prestige that goes along with being a police horse.  He only does police work part time.  The rest of his days are spent as a partner to his new owner 14yr old Mia. Toegther they are learning how to become 3 day eventers and hope to start competing in the summer of 2011!
