Meet Alana
Alana has been riding since she was 2yrs old. In 1984 at the age of 6yrs, she started
taking English riding lessons at Happy Horse Riding School in Davis, CA. Since 1984 Alana
has been actively riding and competing.
In 1991 Alana bought a 5yr old Thoroughbred/Quarterhorse and began eventing him
starting at Novice. Alana and Sunny quickly ran through the levels completing many
Preliminary eventing competitions all over California, Oregon and Arizona as well as a
CCI*. In 1997 Alana and Sunny started competing at Intermediate level in California and
Washington. Due to Sunny's boldness on cross country they never had any faults and
always moved up in the placings. In 1998 Alana and Sunny were chosen to represent Area
VI at the North American Young Riders Championships at the 2 star Level 3 Day event in
Colorado (NAYRC CCI** Junior Olympic recognized). Unfortunately the long haul took a toll
on Sunny and he was unable to compete at the event. Sunny and Alana went back to work
and were planning on competing in Texas in 1999 at the Advanced level. Unfortunately due
to previous injuries Sunny had to be pulled from the competition and retired.
Since 1999 Alana has been starting young horses and fixing problem horses. In 2006 she
found her way out to Fresh Start Stable and acquired a challenging horse that would get
her back into competition.
Alana has trained with many well known trainers including . Don Sachey, Yves Sauvignon,
Chris Scarlett, and Paula Lacey.
Alana is not a full time trainer so space is limited.
